「天安門母親」發起人丁子霖，五年來到九四年八月為止，尋訪了一百多家「六四」難屬，其中死難者家屬共九十六家，而致殘者則有四十九人。她將她尋訪的這些人，用表格方式，列出了他們的姓名、性別、年齡、生前單位、遇難情況、家庭情況、住址、郵編、電話、備註等多項。 絕大多數死難者家屬，在當局壓力下，在「備註」一欄，寫明「不願公開家屬姓名，不便與外界直接聯繫。」而這些表列的一個個人的具體資料，儘管遠遠未及「六四」真正的傷亡人數，但已能夠清楚地説明「六四」的真相了。
作者又把她在尋訪受難者家屬的過程中，所見到的、聽到的事實，用「實錄」的文字寫下了廿五篇。這些「尋訪實錄」是兩份表格(死難者及致殘者的表格)的最好補充。
中國當局讓「六四」事件留下一片空白，與丁子霖憑一人之力、憑五年生命的探索追尋而發掘出來的一樁椿沉甸甸的事實，形成鮮明的對比。
Ding Zilin, the founder of "Tiananmen Mothers", visited more than 100 families of "June 4th" victims in five years until August 1994. Among them, there were 96 families of the deceased victims, and 49 were disabled. She listed the names, genders, ages, places of death, circumstances of death, family circumstances, addresses, postal codes, phone numbers, notes, etc. of the victims in a table. Under pressure from the authorities, the vast majority of the family members of the victims stated that they "did not want to disclose the names of the family members and would not be able to contact the outside world directly." Although the number of victims recorded in this book is far less than the true number of casualties, but it can clearly illustrate the truth of "June 4th".
The author also wrote 25 articles about the stories she saw and heard while visiting the families of the victims. These are the best supplement to the two tables (the tables of the deceased and the disabled).
The Chinese authorities left a blank slate behind the "June 4th" incident, which is in sharp contrast to the numerous facts that Ding Zilin unearthed through his own efforts and five years of exploration and pursuit.
